🔴 Epilepsy - For my daughter Julia
My daughter lives with epilepsy. Thankfully, things are mostly under control at the moment, but epilepsy has taught us how quickly certainty can change.
After a stable period, she experienced another major seizure last year — a reminder that living with epilepsy often means staying alert and adapting to uncertainty.
When the diagnosis first came, everyday life suddenly felt different. You become careful, observant and constantly asking questions: Is this safe? Is this okay? Should we wait and see?
By supporting epilepsy research and awareness, I hope to contribute to a world where families feel more supported and where answers may come sooner.
The causes
Why these causes matter
Running for Generations supports causes that are deeply personal to me and my family. Cancer, MS and epilepsy have affected three generations of our lives, shaping our experiences, our worries and our perspective on what truly matters.
These are not just charities I support. They are causes connected to people I love.

🟡 Cancer - In memory of my father Huib
I lost my father to cancer when I was 18 years old. Losing a parent at a young age changes you in ways that are hard to explain. Although many years have passed, the impact remains. Cancer affects millions of families around the world, and far too many people know the feeling of loss, uncertainty and heartbreak it can bring.
Through Running for Generations, I want to contribute to research, awareness and support for those affected by cancer.
🟣 MS - For my brother Jeroen
Last year, my brother was diagnosed with MS. News like that changes everything. It felt unfair. And if I am honest, it also made me feel powerless. Seeing someone you love face an unpredictable disease is difficult, especially when there are so many unknowns.
MS affects people in different ways, and there is still so much research needed. Supporting this cause means supporting hope, progress and a better future for those living with MS.

Every gift helps
Every donation goes directly to the three causes at the heart of this journey. Cancer research, MS research and epilepsy research, causes that have shaped three generations of my family, and millions of others around the world.
All travel, marathon entries and personal expenses are covered by myself. Every cent you give goes where it matters most.
